Less than 10 days is left to register for QED jubilee conference which will be held from May 8 to 10 in Zadar. Tenth QED Conference organized by CROZ will focus on analyzing the creation of a culture of success within organizations. Through lectures and workshops of world-class speakers participants will be able to hear how to learn from failures and mistakes and how to use them to create a stable and successful environment.

Those who are interested can sign up via the form on the website until May 5.

Among many excellent speakers from around the world and the region, the most prominent is certainly John Cohn, one of the leading IBM scientists, holder of the prestigious title of IBM Fellow and owner of more than 70 patents. Participants will have the opportunity to hear his lecture named Serious Play which will lead them through the engineering profession in a very interesting way. It takes a lot of work to succeed, but John believes that in addition to that we also need a cocktail of challenges and failures which helps us on the path to success.

Vast experience and knowledge of Peter Eeles will be of great help to all those who want to improve efficiency, reduce costs and improve quality in software development using the concept of DevOps. Peter is currently Executive IT Architect in DevOps Global Tiger Team of IBM. Besides DevOps for Banking lecture, Peter will hold a workshop on the last day of the conference to provide a better understanding of DevOps with examples from different industries.

Open data & transparency is becoming more and more common theme in conferences and in the media. Therefore, Eleanor Stewart will be sharing her practical experience from the UK on transparency and data sharing of government institutions. She will point out all the benefits and potential dangers of such approach and will provide practical advice on how to start such initiative. Eleanor is currently head of Transparency Department at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, and is working on the implementation of digital methodologies and processes at the Ministry.

Mark Wilson is another very interesting lecturer coming from the UK. In addition to having over 35 years of experience in the IT industry in the field of security, he has received numerous awards as best speaker at leading international conferences. His lecture, The Dark Web…What’s all the fuss?, will certainly leave no one indifferent because it will focus on the hidden side of the Internet. He will be talking about TOR (The Onion Router), about the largest online darknet store – AlphaBay, the so-called eBay and Amazon on steroids, but he will also tackle the Bitcoin.

Andrea Tomasini is one of the founders of agile42 consulting company and one of the most famous faces in agile community today, with extensive experience in various industries – financial, telecommunications and automotive. He is also a well known and favourite speaker from previous QED editions, known for his insipiring and engaging talks. This year, in his lecture he will talk about how agile approach creates resilience and anti-fragility of the organization which are necessary for the troubled waters of today’s market.

Among local speakers we should point out Tina Pogačić who will speak about requirements of agile transition for an organization such as Zagrebačka banka. Participants at the lecture will be able to learn firsthand which changes need to take place and how can they alone ensure success in a challenging project such as agile transition of a large system.

CROZ has been a partner of this year’s highly successful international cycling race Tour of Croatia, and its main originator Vladimir Miholjević will be the first speaker of this year’s conference. This former highly successful cyclist will show, through interactive presentation, what is needed for the success of such a demanding project, how can we learn from failure and ultimately succeed.

The novelty of this year’s conference is that the sports part of the QED will include participation in the Wings for Life World Run race which will be held in Zadar on the first day of the conference. There are still few free registration positions left for the race, and the participants of QED can win them by putting “Application for Wings for Life World Run” in the notice section of the registration form.

QED conference is supported by two professional associations – Agile Croatia, civic associations dealing with agile methods of software development and PMI Croatia association, association for Project Management.

Quality in Enterprise Development 2015 was held in Rovinj. 25 speakers and experts shared their thoughts, knowledge, and experiences about creativity and innovation with over 200 participants through 16 presentations, 5 workshops and a round table discussion.

Just like in the years before year, it all started with sporting activities on Sunday. Following that, there was the official opening of the conference where our Vedrana Miholić welcomed everyone present and gave an introduction to the theme of the conference – the evolution of IT. Next up on the QED stage were two experts that have been evolving with IT for more than 30 years: IBM’s software engineer Grady Booch along with the head of the Višnjan Observatory, Korado Korlević.

Lean, agile, creativity, innovation, cloud, knowledge and knowledge management, portfolio priority management – those are just some of the topics we discussed and debated over the two professional days of the conference. Many native and foreign experts shared their experiences and practices with the participants and we hope that many will benefit. We’ll quote Andrea Tomasini, another one of our guest speakers, who said: “Create an agile organization, not by copy-paste, but instead by choosing the methods and values that best suit the specific features of your organization.”

Eighth Quality in Enterprise Development (QED) conference was held in 2014 in Zadar. More than 180 participants at the conference explored the complex relationship between quality and efficiency in IT.

Representatives of over thirty organizations and companies had the opportunity to participate in numerous lectures and workshops held by prominent national and international speakers.

On the final collective discussion “How to increase the efficiency in IT” participants sought to offer solutions for a better efficiency of the entire IT industry, focusing on people and technology, and tried to answer the question of what is the efficiency and in what ways it can be improved.

“QED conference was the perfect combination of work and pleasure. We were discussing the latest trends and excellence in business, while enjoying the excellent hospitality of our hosts. Therefore, the Conference left an impression of  “family reunion” of joined creative thinkers. I really enjoyed it and I hope to come again at the conference, “said Niklas Modig after the conference.

Quality in Enterprise Development (QED) conference each year hosts top global and regional speakers who are experts in their respective areas and trough alternative lecture formats, such as lightning talks, Open Space sessions, and many others explores current topical aspects of quality in software development. The conference, first time organized by CROZ in 2007, grows from year to year.

In order to continue this successful series, we’re announcing the jubilee, 10th Quality in Enterprise Development Conference which will be held in Zadar, 8 to 10 May 2016. This year’s QED will give an insight into creating a culture of success through lectures, workshops, discussions and practical examples.

If they want to grow and evolve, organizations should be able to create an environment that encourages growth and development. The formula is very simple, but we need to know how to apply it!

Creating a culture which provides a stable and secure environment that welcomes change and encourages creativity, growth, development and innovation requires a lot of knowledge on many levels – from business and development processes through the invisible but important rules. Can we afford mistakes, what happens if we make a mistake, how do we celebrate the successes and how can we help each other?

Find out answers to these and many other questions in May at QED 2016 conference. More information are coming soon!
